RHODE ISLAND TEACHER ASSISTANT REQUIREMENTS

Education Requirement	Certification Requirement
Have a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma	Complete a Teacher Assistant Pre-Employment Training Program approved by the RI Department of Education (RIDE). Or have a certification as a TA in another state
Meet one (1) of the following requirements: Passing ParaPathways (5757) exam passing score: 332 reading/writing and 334 Math OR Completed a minimum of 48 college credits OR Have an associates or higher degree. Please Note: Unfortunately we cannot accept international university transcripts or credits as proof of college credits. International university transcripts/credits require a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES-approved agency to meet the education requirement NACES approved companies list:  https://naces.org/members/	See list of approved TA Certification Programs in RI here: https://ride.ri.gov/teachers-administrators/other-tools-information/paraprofessionals
