Providence Public Schools is home to over 3,500 employees driven by a mission to support, nurture, and educate Providence children. Our staff is driven each day knowing that they make a difference in the lives of the community they serve.
The City of Providence is Rhode Island's Capital City and the largest municipality in the state. Providence Public Schools staff are employed by the City of Providence. The Providence Public Schools team supports the education of Providence's youngest residents. The District serves over 19,000 students attending over 35 schools. PPSD employs more than 3,600 professionals who work in and provide support to our schools, which include 19 elementary schools, 7 middle schools, and 10 high schools. Of our employees, approximately 1,800 are educators, and more than 800 others directly support students and families in our schools.
Approximately 40% of PPSD students are multilingual learners, and about 17% of students receive special education services.
